Can someone confirm the tightening sequence for the inlet manifold. Page 12-2-47 of the manual, reassembly point 10

Appears as though the tightening of the inlet manifold gasket clamps after the final tightening to 51Nm of the inlet manifold bolts may result in the requirement to run around all bolts again to ensure all have 51Nm

Is this correct.

Below is my understanding

Stage 1 (Initial tighten)

Bolts
1 - 5Nm
2 - 10Nm
3 - 10Nm
4 - 5Nm
5 - 10Nm
6 - 10Nm
7 - 10Nm
8 - 10Nm
9 - 5Nm
10 - 10Nm
11 - 10Nm
12 - 5Nm

Stage 2 - (Final Tighten)

1 - 51Nm
2 - 51Nm
3 - 51Nm
4 - 51Nm
5 - 51Nm
6 - 51Nm
7 - 51Nm
8 - 51Nm
9 - 51Nm
10 - 51Nm
11 - 51Nm
12 - 51Nm

Gasket Clamp Bolts (Take these up in increments of 4 or 5 Nm. Not stated but I would do this)

1 - 18Nm
2 - 18Nm

Stage 3 - (Final Tighten/Check)

1 - 51Nm
2 - 51Nm
3 - 51Nm
4 - 51Nm
5 - 51Nm
6 - 51Nm
7 - 51Nm
8 - 51Nm
9 - 51Nm
10 - 51Nm
11 - 51Nm
12 - 51Nm

Ok

The plan will be as follows

Stage 1 - Bolts 1,4,9,12 - 5Nm All others - 10Nm (in numerical sequence both 5 and 10Nm)
Stage 2 - Gasket Clamps to 18Nm
Stage 3 - All in sequence to 25Nm
Stage 4 - All in sequence to 51Nm

Wait 15-20 mins,

Stage 5 - Check all to 18 or 51Nm respectively

After doing 3 sets of heads in 4 years, on the last set I said glue everything. EVERYTHING.
I hope the damn things dont leak on you Andrew,,, [smilebigeye]

Well, if they leak I can only blame myself.

I have removed the heads but they look to be in very good condition. As well as the cylinders etc.
