Discovery 2 rear passenger door latch/handle adjustment

Hi all,
Way back in 2012 I bought by Disco 2. It needed replacement door actuators on both rear passenger doors. I ordered new LR ones and fitted them. I then found that both doors required a real big heave on the outside handle to open either door. I managed to adjust one by adjusting where it strikes on the body but this is still not ideal. The other problem is that neither door has been able to open from the inside no matter how much force is applied to the interior handle. I got excited when I watched a video on how to adjust the front doors by twisting the linkage on the thread, but the rear doors have no such adjustment. There is simply a linkage with no plastic threaded piece. Now I've dropped the linkage down into into the door at top of the arch and do you think I can see it or get it out? No way. I've changed water pumps, transmission hoses, and rebuilt an alternator on this thing, but these doors have been my biggest challenge. Any ideas appreciated.

Had the same problem when i did mine could not find until i stuck a wire coat hanger or same down the crease which forms the arch in the rear door, once retrieved i stuffed a rag there so if dropped whilst refitting it could be got at easily. Put a bend in it to shorten its travel will help with opening the door.

Cheers. I had ideas of putting a bend in the linkage (once I find and retrieve it). Now to work out a solution for the interior handle.

Sounds like the child lock is on. Small lever near the door catch.

I had a bit more of a play with the door today. I've shortened the linkage to the outer handle. This seems to have made a substantial difference. Still no joy with the interior door handle. Any ideas why the child lock switches on as I pull the interior door handle? I'm really baffled.

So I found the problem! Several years after installing new actuators and never being able to open the doors from the inside it appears that both actuators were put together on friday afternoon. I started pulling the actuator apart with a focus on the safety lock. One of the parts was placed wrong. I really can’t see that I’d forced these myself as I took my time making sure nothing was jammed on installation. Inside handle now works perfectly, with the added bonus of the outside working even more easily. See pics below. The correct fitting is the one with the arm fitting inside the slot.
