View Full Version : P2264 - It’s winter again

Every winter the dear water in fuel error comes up. Each winter I think I’m not dealing with that in the wet. Each summer it stops happening and I don’t replace the entire unit. Each winter I kick myself.
I did try getting the unit out a couple of months back but grovelling on the driveway I just couldn’t get the unit out past the subframe so gave up and simply changed the filter.
I love my Disco

And no, there’s never any water in the fuel when you drain it. I suspect the circuit gets moisture in it in the wet weather and flags a fault. I’d bypass the thing if I could work out how

When new mine would get water in the electrical connectors after driving through puddles. The silly warranty technician checked for water in the filter bowl rather than read my complaint properly so I just sealed the connectors in silicone.

So you didn't remove the sensor, but coated all connectors in silicon to stop water interfering?

I sealed the connector on the sensor wire which was supposed to be waterproof.

If its anything like mine (which it should be), just unplug the single wire going to the sensor in the bottom of the bowl.
The previous owners mechanics did that on mine by discarding the sensor entirely (yay) and leaving the connector dangling. No alarms though.

I wondered if it was that easy. Boom! Cheers. The day I do have water in the fuel I doubt it’ll actually work anyhow lol

Don't worry DJ, any water related issues will be mitigated by your oil leaks, boost pressure losses or susoension/transmission issues. [bigwhistle]

Wow. I thought we were “brothers from another mother” given our similar issues. Bastard!
New oil cooler arrived yesterday. New oil seals for the oil air separator in stock and will change just because I’m in there.
Boost pressure is great thanks. Transmission is slick as. My new shocks and rebuilt compressor are going great. (Tongue emoji!!!!)
And after all of this I still suspect my oil leaks are elsewhere. I can though confirm they’re not from the throttle! That’s fixed!!!

Maybe Uncle Ho can help. He once was a Land rover parts man.
Ho, what are the LR part nos. for oil leaks?

All good, I'm still to do the compressor and shocks are 50/50, need to assess them still so you're ahead there. All else is good (touch wood) for now....
Need to replace sway bar bushes with oem rubber ones, poly is just too harsh.

So I’m going to replace the two oil air separator oil seals when I do the oil cooler. I have two new seals for the coolant unit that must be removed. Sharp hacksaw blades for the LH / passenger manifold to clear. It better fix it!

I could take the RS4 off your hands if that's any help and as I'm not greedy , someone else can have the D4[bigsmile]

I've never had a problem working on cars, but the son of a motherless goat that engineered the D3/D4 is one of those very few people "on my list".
Given the heritage/ownership at the time I figured it must have been a work experience kid from the sheltered workshop hitting the drafting board while the rest of the Ford development team were out on a long boozy lunch.

Do you have part nos for these. I am booked in for oil cooler change and have the part but not sure about these seals.

Not a typical LR item number but that’s it. ~ AU$10 each. Need two
