Hi Bill
Not sure if you have A/C on your TD5 but if you do and don’t mind losing it you can just convert the A/C compressor to be the air compressor as I did in my 130. From there it’s just a mayor plumbing in the air lines, adding a grease nipple to the fill plug on the side and wiring in a switch on the dash to activate the magnetic clutch and a pressure switch to turn it on and off. I’ve had this setup for four years and it’s great + the passenger gets a lot more leg room.
Can’t send you pics at the moment as I’m overseas for a month

Will it go where the ACE pump normally goes on the TD5?

Spend ages working on this back in 2001 and gave it up as a complexity that was easily met by a good compressor for most use and a tank.

It’s serious work, custom idlers, brackets and mounts and will need custom belts to fit.

The only version I’ve seen on a TD5 replaces the AC

You can consider driving it off the PTO outlet.

Thats a really good point with the development that happened with electric air compressors, especially the twin pumps. You probably don't even really need air tanks apart from the small integrated ones for diff lockers.
