you should only need to login to the portal first and it should talk to the forums ...

It's good. However I think I'd like o see the forums open in another window rather than sit within the portal so thot you get a bit more real estate https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I like the portal ...

As the guys have said - forums opening in another page ( or tab) would help with screen real estate... but we can wait for that.

( FYI in the current format when typing here in the reply screen - the words go off the screen - under the vertical scroll bar - and there is no horizontal scroll. I'm running 1024 x 768. If I change to a higher res like 1280x 1024 issue is fixed.)

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ But then I can't read it either....... my eyes are not as good as they used to be ... https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I like the "Image of the Day" concept.... I can see some competition among the guys in the future to get on there!

Keep up the good work...... and Caffeine https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Looking at the Portal again,

I notice down the bottom RSS and Atom feed links https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Dave are you planning on using these features?

I know there are a fair few IT types around here.... I suspect that many like me use RSS to monitor updates from various sites...

Would be very nice to be able to sneak AULRO in among my updates from Trend, Cisco, Microsoft, Digg, Slashdot, etc etc etc

I guess that's probably item 1, 743 on the list at the moment... but just wondering for the future... https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I have no idea what a portal is but if it is what is causing the page to be not as wide and have to scroll backwards and forwards i hate it. Matt

No I DO want email notification, but on the old forum it used to only tell you once until you visited, not every time someone posted in the meantime. Indeed on this forum its supposed to work that way as well, according to what I read somewhere.

Sad News

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.

Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

Hi Ralph,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(protocol)

But if you want it in English... Basically an RSS feed from a site can be read by an RSS client (another program ) so that a quick round up of new items... like head lines is available - you can then click on these to go to the original page.

It will not feed all the forum posts ( I suspect) - I assume Inc will have if just feeding the front page news - stuff like the G4 info on the portal.

In my case I work at a pc all day - and I run an RSS client in the background that alerts me to updates on a variety of websites - including my Antivirus vendor, Microsoft security updates etc.

Unless you spend a lot of time on a PC - but not on here...... chances are you don't need it.

Cheers, Mark

On a separate issue, corredt the spelling of "avaliable" in the help files (several times).

Another fix urgently required: Open the help screens in a new window. If one is typing up a post then selects Help, one loses the page on which one is working. Hitting the back button doesn't recover the text you laboriously entered. Ask me how I know. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
