Fridge slide and drawers.

Had some time last night with an empty house to knock up a simple mount for my fridge slide that will form part of a modular system (hopefully), lots of plywood spare so will make a box that covers the fridge with some holes cut out for ventilation.
This just uses the RH side tie points with longer allen bolts to hold it down, still need to trim the plywood a bit and move the slide mounts forward 50mm so it leaves more space behind for a 10ltr water bottle.
Slide is made of qubelok and a couple of pieces of gal rod with slides off ebay.

Nice start, but unless you bolt down the passenger side of that fridge slide going around a LH corner will cause the fridge to lean and possibly break the bolted runners. I would have extended the wood right the way across and the bolt it to the LHS tie down points. I carry a fridge in my car when we do short trips or I want a extra beer fridge. I cut some thick metal strips to go right the way across to each tie down point and welded two links of a chain x4 to the strip metal on each side just a bit wider than the fridge. A rachet strap hooked on one side through the fridge handle and hooked on the other side holds the fridge in place. That way I still can slide things in the other half of the cargo area. I had a wooden storage system in my last car and they are very heavy! So watch your weights! Good Luck

That's what I did. My base goes right across the floor and bolted down to all 4 points and the sides for the containers are then held up with right angle brackets bolted to this.
Bit of sideways movement but I've had the same sort of thing in all our 3 Deafeners, a Prado and now the D4 with no problems.

Seriously though, there are many times I wish I didn't have the big arse tailgate door. I like the split "Rangie" style tailgate on the LR3/4's.

Anyway, good stuff with the fridge and it's slidy-ness. [emoji6]

This is only part 1 and not expected to be anywhere near the factory finished article as is its fairly sturdy and only really for those times I want the fridge and not a full drawer setup.
Original idea was to use 50x3mm steel between the tie down points but didn't have any on hand.

think thats the size of my metal strip. I guess you work with what you've got on hand. Keep us updated on the "build"

To save building something going all the way across the cargo area, I secured the inboard side of my removable fridge slide with straps down the gap between the seats to the seat belt mounts:

It's been through some pretty serious bouncing and has never moved.
