Hello Series Fans,
I have been trawling YouTube for some step-by-step dismantling and reassembly videos for the Series Steering Boxes. I am desensitising myself before I tackle Lazarus my 2A 1963 Ambulance's totally stuck steering box. This is of course a perfect match for the totally stuck steering relay. Since the steering box does not have a big spring that is under load, like the steering relay does - I will build my confidence on the steering box first.

I hope these clips are of some assistance to you. If you know of any others please let me know?
YouTube clips for Steering Relays which show full dismantling and reassembly are still rare. A number show various methods for removing the relay from the chassis. Some show topping the oil up . I am still looking for a more step-by-step example.
Colin (Gromit) did do a step-by-step guide in photographs for one of his fleet on AULRO. Gromit's Steering Box Overhaul is found at 2a GS Refurb ARN 178-334 (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/leaf-sprung-military-land-rovers/125841-2a-gs-refurb-arn-178-334-a-post2833270.html#post2833270)
Gromit's Steering Relay Overhaul is located ....Isuzu C240 powered Series 3 (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/other-powered-series-land-rovers/151959-isuzu-c240-powered-series-3-a-post1925585.html#post1925585) However, the photograph hosting site that will remain nameless, has blocked the availability of these photographs. This is a great shame as it lessens a very valuable resource ... hint ... hint
Reubsrover provided a guide back in 2010 on AULRO Steering Relay Rebuild (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-iii/116455-steering-relay-rebuild-post1363734.html#post1363734)
I did find a United Kingdom thread Rebuilding a steering relay - Series Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum
(https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/94465-rebuilding-a-steering-relay/)
It looks like there is a USA version of the UK tool http://forums.roversnorth.com/showthread.php?16554-Steering-Relay-Rebuild-Guide&p=106269#post106269 The USA version uses adjustable hose clamps instead of zip-ties - UK Version; to hold the spring clamp. Slightly better OH & S in the US of A, apparently!
Some details of the relay spring compression tool that Mickey W. made in the UK is found at https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/45650-600536-steering-relay-compression-tool/'do=findComment&comment=422486 . From memory Gromit made a similar tool.
Another version of the Spring Compression Tool made by Andy B. is less complex; however, it does not have the advantage of leverage provided by having handles https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/45650-600536-steering-relay-compression-tool/'do=findComment&comment=422801

Two more examples of the Spring Compression Tool are found at https://www.lrukforums.com/threads/steering-relay.225061/post-1589624
I found a thread about reducing the lateral movement at the bottom of the Steering Relay by making a thicker collar. For details see ... Steering Relay Collar Improvement - http://www.nickslandrover.co.uk/steering-relay-collar-improvement
If you have access to the following book there is a fully illustrated description of "how to" from pages 128-133 Accessed 21st January 20202 from,
Porter, L. (2011). Land Rover Series III Reborn. Dorchester: Veloce Publishing. By the way if you go to
