Gday All,

I did search but couldnt find what i was after , for those who have the Traxide DBS , where do you feed the wires thru to get them from the rear luggage area to outside the vehicle. I have had a look but cant really see any grommets anywhere.

Thanks

Hi there. I have recently removed the white landrover trailer socket and replaced with normal trailer socket. This allows the use of a normal 7 pin trailer plug to be wired to an Anderson plug. I checked with multimeter and used pin 6 which is already fuzed at 15amp. I therefore use the right hand plug for normal trailer function and left hand (old white one) for anderson. Can also now wire compressor to plug in there. Here is all relevant photos if anyone is interested. https://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery/c7e31553bf3408290041ac07b70260a0.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery/3cf269632a3ceb71a769db540b817283.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery/889f6cd07d5f6dbffa26d08507a7cd7d.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery/544d5f4abfb74a3f243fac219d5a4dd2.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery/6d3ac11c87131ffa7dc97b1d6891cb9b.jpghttps://www.aulro.com/mobile-gallery/c33e46a907c0a76557ebaa01dff41b1a.jpg

Thanks for the post. I use that white plug to run my solar panel thru and wanted to be able to hook my trailer battery to the car to help run my fridge.
Good idea tho.

I have a 2015 d4 se, if you remove the plate that holds the tow hitch, rear lhs, under there is a large rubber plug with several circles in it. My guess is that it's for the rear air con in the hse. The perfect place to get in and out and easily sealed.

If I can find the photo I have will post it up.

Geoff

I have fitted the anderson plug as per traxide instructions supplied from Narangga. Always good to see different ways to do these things.

Connecting into the “live feed” pin 6? To balance the charge? I like the idea.

My compressor is 40amps of draw. No chance I’m of running it from that circuit.

No - I continued the wiring from the rear 12V sockets from the traxide DBS thru the grommets behind the drivers side rear tail lights and have the anderson plug next to the tow plug , that way i can keep the house battery in the trailer connected to boost the aux battery set up and i can use the white plug to run the solar panels thru to charge them at the same time.

Yep, exactly what I did, and it works a treat.
I can plug my compressor into it, or plug the van into it.

I ran the cable that comes from my aux battery and has the 12V sockets in the rear compartment and continued it thru behind the drivers side rear tail light cluster an run it down behind the rear bumper. This allows me to connect the trailer to this anderson plug and that bolsters my totally aux battery AH. I run my fridge in the car so the trailer batter helps spread the load , but also allows me to charge the trailer battery whilst driving as its connected to my aux batteries under the bonnet so charges whilst they charge.

When i stop i connect my solar panel to the plug i made which is connected thru the white plug and this charges the batteries. saves me lifting the bonnet and connecting to the batteries in the engine bay.

So the trailer connects to the plug with the red cover , and the solar panels connect to the left plug which is inserted in the white plug.

I have used the Traxide system for my D4 and have removed the white plug and its loom (connects behind the pass side tail light) and installed the Traxide Andersen Plug where the white plug used to be. This allows the cars systems to be charged back from the caravans solar panels etc.etc. Not hard to do but you need the hands and arms of an 8 year old to get into the nooks and crannies of the D4!

Sorry about the side on pic, but hey whilst I have the technology I don't necessarily have all the skills![bigwhistle]

This is the way that I would like to do it - but have yet to figure out how to remove the white plug. Have tried once with no success.
Meanwhile, I have extended the cable supplied as part of the Traxide wiring harness and mounted an anderson plug under the bumper.
Works well for me.

For charging via an external charger, CTEK have a couple of leads that you can leave permanently set up.

A bit of mucking around even with the spare wheel out. The white plug has a loom that runs to a connector in the space between the outer body and the inner panel just below the tail light on the passengers side. Getting to that connector, to first remove it from its mounting, and to then disconnect it was a great deal of fun! Once disconnected it's just a matter of removing the loom and that is not made easy by the inclusion of a loom holder that is part way along the loom. Oh and the loom runs through the rear frame just to add to the level of embuggerance! You also need to make up a little plate to mount the Andersen plug onto to make the set up neat and tidy.

In the first picture you can see the large grey connector for the 'White Plug' loom....tantalizingly close but what a confined space to get your hands into....just sayin!

Again sorry about the sideways pictures......
