Hey Gang,
I’m a brand new owner of a 1995 P38 Rangie which I am becoming very attached to, this thing is so much fun. But I am in the process of learning, reading stacks of maintenance manuals, and trying to figure out my Fault Mate diagnostics tool. What I have noticed early on (and I would love some advice from the experienced RR/LR owners) is a clunk on the wind up on my electric window. Is this simply a replacement of the motor/regulator located inside of the door itself? I’ve heard teeth wear out on these eventually.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Jace

I replaced the regulator in my driver's door when I bought the car, as it had a few broken teeth and was clunking. Don't assume it is that, might be the nylon guides? I don't know, but my money is on the regulator. Best thing is to take the door card off and have a look. It was around $100 for an aftermarket replacement reg I think. Not a hard job, except you need to drill out the rivets that retain the regulator if it's a front door (rears might also be held on by rivets but RAVE suggests that they are bolts). I've heard of people replacing the rivets with nut/bolts, I just got new rivets.

I was driving along once and heard a very loud bang, i thought it was a rock thrown at the car! But then realised the window regulator had broken when the window didn't move.
I have replaced my drivers door regulator twice over 10 years, the teeth do wear out over time.
Yours could also be a loose bolt or rivet, probably a good idea to remove the inside door trim and have a look at what's happening while you operate the window up and down.
Not a hard job, I replaced mine using stainless steel rivets to prevent rusting.
