Took the 300Tdi for a run last weekend. Stopped to go into Bunnings as you do (even though there is still no sausage sizzle) and then when I tried to restart 20 mins later it tried to turn over for a fraction of a second and then everything died... no dash lights, not even the radio... while sitting there considering options after around ten minutes the radio started again... all by itself. I have a Bluetooth battery monitoring app (BM2 I think) so I checked this and noticed the voltage was rising....

As I watched the voltage kept rising so once it got to a sufficient level I tried starting and it fired first time.. I had the alternator and the battery checked and they were fine...

I checked battery cable security and no issue.

I have had no issues since then. Any ideas what might be the underlying problem?

Cheers - Simon

1. possibly a bad earth on the gearbox or the connection to the chassis.
2. loose connection on the positive at the starter motor. This is where all the power comes from to supply the vehicle.

Indeed.

Oh, and we have sausage sizzles in Vic now. Go figure.
