Does anyone in Melbourne know where I can hire/buy a TDV6 injector extractor? The LR part number is 303-1127.

BSP in Campbellfield may have something - I borrowed a puller (well a modified injector top I could fit to my slide hammer) from them a while ago to pull a stubborn unit on my L332 but not sure if they lend/hire things out now or to who - but they are a super helpful bunch for any pump or injector question so worth the call IMO.

Spray some WD40 or similar around the hole and leave overnight, mine came out without a hitch and considering yours has been apart too i'm surprised they wont come out easily.

Thanks Nick, I'm taking the injectors out of the wreck and they don't look like they've been disturbed in a long time. The injectors are currently soaking in WD40 but I'm anticipating interesting times.

If you have access to an old injector pipe, cut it, keep the nut. Weld the nut to a short length of chain. Weld the other end to a bolt you can screw into your slide hammer.

The chain is helpful incase you don't pull perfectly square, it won't break the welds.

I can send a photo later if you need

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have sourced a tool from Endeavour Tools who sell through Burson. The tool should arrive in the next few days, meanwhile I'll continue soaking the injectors with WD40.

There's no way this machine will start any time soon. It's being stripped down as a donor parts car for my better machine.

Did that to get a pre combustion chamber plate off a tractor once - loosened the 3 nuts right off - cranked it and with a loud bang like a shotgun it shot off, stripping the nuts off the studs and shot through the side of the workshop- took me an hour to find it in the blackberry bushes. Had I been standing in the way I’m sure it would have killed me.

Fun times! [emoji16]

It scared the absolute bejesus out of me - It was an old Massey 35x and the precombusion chamber covers were always getting some blowby no matter how much I tightened the nuts up so thought it would be an easy job to replace the copper gaskets to fix this. 2 of the 3 came off easily but one was stuck fast - I had no idea how much pressure a diesel builds up in its cylinders until that day. There is a small triangular hole to this day in the sheet of tin on the side of the workshop where it happened - sort of exactly the shape of the below item. [emoji16][emoji56]

My first landy (300tdi disco)
Which died the graceful death of being parted out and finally taken to the dump

Wore a solid 15cm diameter ding in the bonnet from number two injector being ejected using a 2.5L crank driven compressor ... of course I layed a leather jacket over it to prevent disaster ...

I imagine without the jacket it would have shot through the bonnet and probably the roof above

Made a good bang !!!

If the injector is going in the bin it would be a good go to in my thoughts - maybe remove bonnet first and put up some goal posts down range

If he's self employed it's about 2 or 3 rungs below his risk assessment, which would be 'bang on'.

So I used the official extractor - it broke on the first injector as I was tensioning it up and I was only using a 1/4 drive bar with an 8mm socket. I'll be talikng to the tool manufacturer tomorrow.

Sounds like it was made of the same metal they use for the V6 diesel cranks.

It’s pretty clear to me there is only one course of action.
Attach Chincey extractor to offending injector ... and launch it down range as well

The tool distributor, Endeavour Tools, was very good. They got replacements for the broken tool to me the day after I contacted them - no charge. I still can't move the seized injectors they are stuck fast! I did manage to remove a couple of other injectors though and will try them in the good car.
