After changing my T/C the other day. Thought I,d get some diff oil to change them as well.
I,ve got some Castrol 75W-90 syntans for the front, but no one stocks Castrol fluids down here in Tassie.(specifically castrol saf-carbon mod plus 75w-90)
Is the Penrite Pro gear 75W-90 Full Synthetic suitable for the rear diff?
According to their website it is,but I thought I,d ask on here from the people that service these vehicles to make sure.
TIA

Unless you have a locking rear diff (didn't come out till 2005/2006 I think) then it's syntrans for front diff and rear diff.
I think rear was 1.2L and front is 0.8L

Just be careful when you refill the diff oil ! The L322 unlike all other LR Variants and most other cars; [bighmmm]the Diff filler plug is not the oil level indicator [bigwhistle] If oil runs out the diff is overfilled. Just measure the oil precisely. To me there doesn't look like much difference, but that's what it says in the manual. I only came across this info while researching about diff/e-diff on Ffrr.

Nice you mentioned that Laurie! I put 1.2L in and it still wasn't running out...but I just shrugged and figured it had enough....turns out that was wise!

Does anyone know where I can buy castrol products in Tassie.
None of the auto places here stock castrol anymore.
Has anyone used the Penrite 75w-90 in there diffs on early L322,s?

I use Penrite oils for diffs and motor and ZF fluid for tranfer case and auto, no issues in over 500,000 K's
