Dunno what to say,, had wifts of smells at home sometimes, then first time with the van slowing to a roundabout from the highway, then 10 secs later to a dump spot, get yelled at by Di in the navigators seat "theres smoke coming out"
front left was pretty hot.. much more than the right,
no pulling, no vibes. RACQ wouldnt even jack the wheel up..
Luckily our Yandina campsite was only 5 kays away, though when we got there the RIGHT side was hotter than the left????
Coming back through Maroochydore this morning got a single brake squeal but both sides were cool when we parked??

Bearings or brake pads?

Land Rover Tech says all wonderful, bearings, pads, discs,
There was a TSB issued for squeaks on Brembos, add slide lube basically.
The Tech says to rekit both calipers.

which would fix that problem,,,

if my problem is THAT problem..

I hope that’s just it mate, and sounds about right as smoke from the front ends just sounds so un natural, and no reason for it apart from something being over tightened or dry.

Here’s hoping.👍

Have you verified your brake controller is working properly?

Shouldn't matter, the D2 did the same manuver many times without van brakes and nothing bad happened. Both fronts should be equally hot,,
Any bit the bullet and towed to our second favourite spot, Kandanga, and yes, front left was a lot hotter than the right( which was only warm.. )https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210817/86affef690fa7a53da3be9145e842c9c.jpg

in my limited experience

there is always one electric brake that is hotter than the others

and it is nearly always on the left side....

just been my experience

what size is the brake wiring to the plug on the vehicle ?

Is the van doing the braking for the car too?

I used 15A ext lead doubled up because stones and its what I had ;)

but um,, we are talking front car brakes...... :)

Admittedly This is my first time using the redarc pro,,, van brakes work fine with manual application and I can feel them doing stuff on the road...
I really dont think it has anything to do with the van...

I have it booked in to a workshop that has a proper automotive brake tester, but regardless am putting new kits through both..

Rebuilding multi piston calipers is so much fun.... I did some 4 pots and pushing all the pistons out can be interesting. Good luck, it does sound like some of you pistons are returning as they should.

Pick the car up in the morning,, second hand phone report from Mechanic says two pistons seized, the Gentleman that does the actual rebuilds always sends a report with the calipers so I am looking forward to reading it.

Really nice to find a problem...

Apparently there were 4 pistons that needed attention, all on the left caliper, and naturally there are no repair kits for these yet,, so I got a mix of new subi, MG and toyota bits up front. the pistons were cleaned up and reused. Does sound a bit second hand but this guy is where Pacific LR send all the calipers they need work done on anyway... and after talking to him twice i am very happy to have him do the work.

That's a bugger. I suppose the car had been sitting unused for quite sometime. It should be all plain sailing from here on.[thumbsupbig]
