Hi
I am curious as to how much effort is required to rewire a 300tdi defender.
I gather it takes a bit of time/effort but is it a day job, a full weekend or even couple of weekends worth of time/effort?
Can it be done by an amateur or does it require an auto elec?
Can it be done in stages?
Do I need the pre made loom(s) or can they be made up - possibly with better/thicker wires. Is that even necessary?
Is it worth replacing relays/fuse boxes at the same time or is that just waste of time/effort and money?
regards

If you have the existing loom, then it should be quite straightforward. I replaced a 3.9V8 with an HS2.8 (a development of the 300 Tdi) and had to amalgamate the V8 wiring loom with a 300Tdi one. The main issue for me was in working out the layout of the loom and it took quite some time and a couple of tryout fittings to get it right. I stripped both looms and amalgamated the essential wires into a new loom. I don't like leaving redundant wires hanging around.
