Driving to work this morning I spotted a 6x6 OKA, I didn’t realise they were made in a 6x6 or is it a custom job?

Unfortunately I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to wait for the owner

Looked like a well setup rig

OKAs are being remanufactured in Perth. They have made up a 6x6 version you saw. I think there's only one (so far).

Google has the answers to so many questions [emoji12]

Looks like they are refurbishing as well as building new vehicles

what a weapon... talk about going anywhere.... personally a better option than a UniMog.

There was a 4x4 version in Perth a few years ago, all decked out, the guy was sick of not having any power... out came the old Perkins and in went a 6.6 Duramax with about 450hp and a ton of torque, apparently cut his quarter mile times from 50 something to high 20 seconds, not bad for however many tons, also the fuel economy was nearly double.....

cheers

Reddirt204The remanufactured OKAs are being built with a Cummins 4BT engine. A great engine with abundant power & reliability...

That sounds like a massive improvement,

I've always liked the OKA's, they just look the business and when decked out even better, something about them being brutally simple and a 6x6 is, to me anyway, just more goodness[bigsmile]

Reddirt204I was wrong. It's actually a 6BT they use. Even better! [emoji2957]

I've had a quote of around $40K to convert mine to the Cummins and an Allison 6 speed. :burnrubber:

OKA 6x6 2022 Review - caravancampingsales.com.au (https://www.caravancampingsales.com.au/editorial/details/oka-6x6-2022-review-134492/)

Pretty basic inside and cost $500,000.

That's a lot of money to put into a vehicle, given that it started off as a 1996 4x4 version, even if it does look pretty damn good. I wonder what a new built 6x6 OKA will cost when it comes onto the market?

Not impressed at all with the massive clouds of black smoke coming out of this, Yellow sticker material.

That's what I was thinking, like they were deliberately "coal rolling".

And it's hard to believe that steel box on the front is legal.
