I have been looking for a light that I can plug into a standard home power point that comes on when there is a power failure.
These Click Nightguard lights seem to fit the requirement Click Nightguard Mini Rechargeable Nightlight - Bunnings Australia (https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-nightguard-mini-rechargeable-nightlight_p0134238)
I dont need the motion sensor function, just need a light that comes on when the power goes off - also dont want to do any wiring - just plug in and go.
Unfortunately, the Click Nightguard does not get very good reviews - the motion sensor function is poor but I dont need this. The other problem is the charging mechanism burns out after a short time which is not good.
So does anyone know of another product that simply plugs into a standard 3 pin household socket and comes on when power goes off. As I said not interested in anything that requires wiring in etc.
Thanks
Garry

How often do you think you'll need it, easier just to keep a few torches handy.

You could use emergency lighting as used in commercial premises down to kids lamps that come on when the room goes dark

I usually have my iPhone on me or close, or have an iPad handy.
These make for great emergency lighting when needed.

I have an Aldi trouble light that sits in a charger cradle, if you leave it turned on when charge is present it does not illuminate but when the charger cradle is powered off it comes on automatically. I haven't seen them at Aldi for a few years but maybe something that is a possibility. I can't see whether this one has the smarts to come on automatically Narva |

available off shelf , but instead of wiring it into your lighting circuit you could wire a 3 pin plug into it instead.

I can wire in a lead and 3 pin plug into an appliance that is designed for fixed wiring, or a licensed electrician can?

You possibly can but shouldn't. Insurance voiding effort???
The cost of taking the item to add a plug to an electrical repair place would not be the same as getting a helpful sparky to visit your house!

Thanks for all those suggestions, however as the post indicates just after something that plugs into a standard 3 pin plug and will come on when the power goes off - like the Click product but more reliable.
Actually Tote my neighbour has one of those lights and I know it works well. Maybe steal his as I have not seen them for sale for a long time = though I did see that Repco has something similar.
Background to the post - my 93 yo mum is getting a bit frail and easily confused - the power went off late at night and she got lost in the house in the dark and panicked and pushed her emergency pendant. She has a power point high up in the kitchen that if it had an emergency light it would light up most of the house.
The Click Night Light is exactly what is required but its reliable is so poor that it is not useable - so looking for a similar alternative.

How about something like this...

How often do you think you'll need it, easier just to keep a few torches handy. We have three battery lamps placed strategically about the house, each uses 3 x AA cells A twist of a knob et Voila instant lighting.
If the power stays off for some hours, I boot in the petrol Gennie. By that time the neighborhood is awake anyway.[bigrolf]

Plenty of battery back-up emergency lighting packages available through any of the fire safety suppliers, such as Flamestop, Ektor and others. These can be either hard wired into your house wiring, or simply plug into a single phase outlet. They will come on only when the power fails. This one below is from Flood Light (https://www.flamestop.com.au/led-emergency-lighting/3031-flood-light.html)

I have something similar in the kitchen, might even be the Click product. I find there are a lot of whingers doing reviews, so it might not be as bad as you think. Also this is the problem with giving up smoking, you live a long life, but end up getting confused in the dark, and to top it all of you don't have your cigarette lighter with you when you really need it!

I have not as yet checked out the suggestions from the industrial safety stores but in the in the interim bought the Click item - is only $15.
Works OK but is also a night light so lights up the house - so with bedroom doors open lights the bedrooms a bit. Is Ok and not intrusive, the bedroom door needs to be open so the dog that sleeps under the bed can get in an at etc.
Dave - I will check those suggestions as well - thanks.
