Car is inching its way towards a RWC and now the bloody SRS light, which was on some time ago but has been off for months, has decided to reappear... sigh. SRS light ON, RWC Off. Cleaned and checked all the under seat and console connectors to no avail. So a quick guess, is it the clock spring? Horn and cruise work fine.

Have you checked the relay?
It's in the engine bay fusebox[thumbsupbig]

the cluster is very easy to separate and insert some black electrical tape over the SLS LED.
Ask me how I know (cough ABS light, same RWC situation)
Also just try disabling the SLS option with nanocom.
You'll have to fix it anyway, so kinda moot ideas. Just saying.
EDIT OOPS read srs as sls. Dont mess with that

Funny, but that was suggested by a certain mech....

Disregard what I said I read it as SLS Not SRS.
Maybe an OBD2 unit May clear the fault (these only work on the V8 D2's) otherwise you may have to get your airbags serviced.

Well, I have a Nanocom coming. Again.

Its probably the just plug under the front seats. It's not so uncommon. Give them a jiggle or reconnect and it will probably sort the light.

Thanks, but I've tried that a few times.

Try jumping across the yellow plug. That may turn of the light.
If you need to remove the plug, remove the jumps first. The yellow plug is special and will close the contacts on the cables to the squib. You do not want a nasty little EM pulse setting the squib off![biggrin]

Mine looks fine. I'm not sure what you mean by jumping the plug.

🤨Okay… I’ll ask[emoji16]
What is the squib?

Small explosive charge in the seat belt mount. When the SRS triggers, the squib fires and tightens the seat belt. BANG!

Well yes, obviously, but which end? It's not a system I'm happy tampering with. It's basically four IEDs.

I had the same problem. The SRS light comes on for few days and then is off again. Try checking cables of LHS pre-tensioner for shorts. That was a problem in mine.
Cheers

Hmm. I’ve checked out the plugs again, changed the clock spring. I now have a nanocom again. So the nanocom seems to work on every system…. except the airbag, where it is unable to communicate with the ECU.
sigh
