The coolant temp gets to 69C. Even after a 25km drive.
I replaced this three years ago, I think with a genuine.
Other ideas? Options? Does running out of coolant bugger them up? Three years seems a short life to me.

Are you sure it's not the sensor? I recently changed my 'stat because, intermittently the gauge wouldn't come up to temp.. I still occasionally see the same issue, so suspecting a dodgy sender.

Pull the sensor plug off and on a few times and or spray it with some electronics cleaner.
This low temp thing happened to me and luckily I tried that first.

I did think of cleaning the sensor, and testing the temp with a IR thermometer. More fun for tonight.

I tried to remove it at work, I couldn't push the clip in enough. It moved maybe 2mm. That was enough, temp gauge back to normal. Win win.
