Hi, new to the forum and have just bought a 2008 Discovery 3. Just wondering if anyone can help out, I’ve got a GAP iid tool and keep this message
B1D21-13 (2F) Remote control switch
General electrical failure - circuit open
I keep clearing it and it keeps coming back. I’ve gone through and checked the earth points, checked the transfer case module for corrosion and all looks good. I have just replaced the alternator and the battery is still strong..Every now and then the radio will go off and then come straight back on..Any thoughts? Cheers

Do the steering wheel controls work properly (Audio and Cruise)?

That’s something I’ll check tomorrow, it only has cruise control, no radio controls

Hi, yes the cruise buttons seem to work well, thanks

The reasoning behind my question is every reference I can find to that fault refers to the SWC. The ones closest to that specific fault refer to the stereo, so I wonder if your car thinks there's supposed to be buttons on the wheel and there isn't?
The threads that show genuine faults all seem to point to the clock spring.

Good thinking, most likely the clock spring causing it, I’ll try clearing the fault and then move the steering wheel around to see if it faults.. The stereo works ok but drops in and out every now and then, I thought that was just a reception issue..
I’ll let you know how I go

I tried that and it didn’t fault 🤷*♂️ drove the car for about 30 minutes and the fault is back, probably will change the clock spring at some stage I think

No CCF change required for adding SWC so id be surprised if it faulted for it not being there.

That’s true, I checked the CCF today and SWC is disabled. I did find it strange though that Bluetooth was enabled although the car doesn’t have Bluetooth..I disabled the Bluetooth so I’ll see if it faults again tomorrow

You sure it doesn't have BT? I've got the SE spec with the small screen and that has BT.

Hi, mine is a SE too but doesn’t have the small screen. I disabled the Bluetooth in the CCF but it still faulted this morning with the same message
