Hi All. I have a 2014 Disco 4 TDV6 and have fitted an Autosafe half barrier that replaced the forward cargo tie downs. Now I am looking at installing something to hold down my Dometic Waeco car fridge. Has any body added anything to be able to tie down with these?

Can you just hook on to the cargo barrier mesh itself?

Trouble with mesh is it is up too high ( only upper half meshed ) and not designed to take that load. If I can either get a bolt with a tiedown eye on the end or a plate with loop that would take the load that would work.

I put a draw and kitchen in the back of my D3. These are bolted to carpet covered ply, and the ply is bolted to the tie down points.

I went to the big green shed and got M8 S/S Eye Bolts, took the bolt out of the tie down points and inserted eye bolt. Still have a tie down points. [thumbsupbig]

Edit: at least I think they are M8.

Nothing a piece of bent steel cant fix, show us a pic of the location. Before my drawer setup i used some plywood with slides mounted to it that was bolted into the RH tie downs points.

Thanks guys. I'll try for the M8 SS EYE BOLTS at the big green shed. Didn't realise the bolt down points on the barrier replaced the proprietary points.

Maybe take a bolt out of a rear tie down point and take in as a reference so you get the correct size. Mine were like 80mm long so I just trimmed to suit. Gotta love an angle grinder.[biggrin]

When I fitted mine many years ago, I was able to refit the tie down points over the barrier mounts just by grinding off the little locating tab on the underside of the tie down point. It was a full height barrier but I would expect the mounts to be the same.

Cheers

Not sure what the bolt setup looks like for the barrier but where I needed the front tiedown after I bolted down my fridge slide base over the top of it, I used something like these:

Canyon Dancer Stainless Steel Strap Ring Tie Down Hook Point Single | eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/153334809381)

PAIR 2PC Motorcycle Trailer Tie Down Tiedown Points Loops Motorbike Scooter | Ne | eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/165268905762?chn=ps&_ul=AU&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-139619-5960-0&mkcid=2&itemid=165268905762&targetid=1281061180965&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9071761&poi=&campaignid=12499394789&mkgroupid=122823694276&rlsatarget=pla-1281061180965&abcId=9300512&merchantid=9723812&gclid=EAIaIQobChMImdrJ07ap9gIVosBMAh0DIApZEAQYAiAB EgKMv_D_BwE)

Hopefully you can just put the mounting bolt for the barrier straight through them

If you want them flat when you're not using them then this type might be the go: Goliath Lashing Ring Loop - Bunnings Australia (https://www.bunnings.com.au/goliath-lashing-ring-loop_p4230172)

Have found these on Amazon. As the existing bolts are M8 25mm these should do nicely.

I also fitted an Autosafe Half barrier, purchased 2nd hand, without the fastening straps for the lower connection point. In the photo, you can see I made this strap and attached it to the tie down point. The tie down loop is permanently upright, but I can't see this being a problem.

I recall now when I investigated making the lower fastening straps, that the Original Equipment (see photo taken from post 20 in this thread) (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/213794-auto-safe-half-height-cargo-barrier-2.html) has a Z bracket, which sits in the well where the tie down bracket used to go. Very inconvenient. The Original strap does not not reach to the tie down point either. When I made the replacement, I avoided the Z bracket entirely and made the strap long enough to reach the tie down point. By doing this I retained the tie-down loop functionality.

the lower mounts for my Hayman Reese CB are similar to these and i'll need to make new ones as they will now interfere with my drawer setup. Looks like a trip to bunnings for some gal strap and bend it up in the vice.
