AULRO members,
This is my first post so be gentle. I have searched the internet and found many similar posts, but none that answer this specific question;
I have just bought my first Range Rover Sport - 2011 Luxury SD6, MY 2012 (built 11/2011). The bluetooth for the phone works as it should, but I would like to be able to play music and play podcasts etc, using my iPhone 11 - and expecting that this is somehow possible using either USB Port, or the iPod Port (also a USB port, not the older 30 Pin iPod connection) - both of which are located in the rear panel of the centre console.
I have found various iPod integration cables for RRS (like Bovee etc) but they all seem to assume that the vehicle would have the 30 pin iPod connector, and it doesn't - it's a USB. So I'm wondering why I can't simply use a USB to Lightning data cable (used several cables to ensure I'm not inadvertently using a charge only version) - to run my iPhone into the sound system. I've tried scrolling through the menu using My Music etc and can't find anything that makes sense. The phone seems to think it is sending to the vehicle, judging by the reaction when I play music via Apple Music, and the bluetooth showing positive connection to the vehicle.
What is the trap for young players here? Happy to buy whatever special cable I need, I just don't want to throw $150 to amazon.com to realise I didn't get the specs quite right.
Let me know what I need to do.
Best regards,
Gerald
