Hi,

is there any difference between a 300TDi bonnet vs a TD5 bonnet?

Specifically in relation to chequer plate for the middle section.

there is no chequer plate on a "td5" bonnet , assuming you mean a D2.

Functionally there should be no differences, although older bonnets are more likely to have a wheel carrier.

That aside the TD5 cut chequer plate should be the same as 300tdi.

No. I'm talking about adding chequer plate to the middle section of a Defender bonnet. I already have chequer plate on the wing tops. Can't seem to find the true 3mm chequer plate middle section specifically for 300tdi but have seen it for TD5.

thanks,

I do have the fittings for bonnet mount spare and realise I will have to modify chequer plate to suit.

Defender Bonnet Protector - black - to 2007 - Paddock Spares (https://www.paddockspares.com/pm652b-defender-bonnet-protector-black-to-2007.html) also available in 3mm silver and Paddock's site confirms all defenders to end of TD5.

I have the checker plate for the bonnet that I removed from my 1998 300 tdi so I could fit the spare wheel fittings. The four rubber supports did not have enough thread length to go through the bonnet and the checker plate. I’m happy to give away my checker plate to anyone who wants it.
