My 82 RRC has a different ignition key to the doors.
I found on line a matching ignition lock with door locks so I clicked “buy it now”.
On further investigation today I discovered that the “new” door locks have the operating lever in a different orientation to my original locks.

Original lock on the left operates the vertical link rod to the door latch.
The “new” right hand one has the operating lever vertical. Is this from an early 4 Door that still had the seperate door lock [bighmmm]

Hi Phil,
I was doing routine crisis maintenance on my D/S door lock last week and was looking for a schematic of the actual lock when I came across a vid that included the comment that the barrels are easy to reconfigure for any RRC key.
Will have a look for it tomorrow............... was a pommy resto site and the guy was showing how to get the barrels out of the door.
Maybe goog 'RRC door lock removal'.
cheers, David L

Hi David
The reason I bought matching ignition and door locks is because my ignition key is the opposite hand of the door key.
To explain that further, in the previously posted photo, look at the shape of the hole that the key fits through.
This is the new door lock that I bought and the key “section” (cross section of the key) matches my original ignition key.
Now look at the left hand image and the key “section” is the opposite way around.
Consequently, changing the leaves (or whatever they are called) will still not fix the issue.

They're called wafers, and no, changing them won't help. The pic doesn't show a side view. Is it possible to change the lever to the other barrel? Often it's just a C clip holding that on, but I can't quite see it.

Hi Jay Tee,
I had a more detailed look at my “new” locks and they are marked LH and RH and the levers cannot be changed from barrel to barrel unfortunately.

Original 82 RRC on the left, RH lock in the centre and LH lock on the right.
All three locks have the same locating lugs in the same orientation and with the key vertical.
Are the centre and right ones from the early 4 door with the separate locks?
