I need to find a wire in the back of a D4 that is active when the ignition is on and deactivated when the ignition is turned off. I don't want to pull the insides out to run another wire for a DC-DC charger on a van and hoping to tap into an already existing wire.
Any clues?
Thanks Lindsay.

I dunno about the D4, but in the D3 you can tap that off the caravan fridge fuse in the passenger side rear cubby.

The white trailer plug has that. It's a white and red wire

I made up a short lead to plug a solar panel into my 12S plug. I just used an Anderson plug and 2 core cable to plug into pin 3 and 4. Pin 6 would be the wire you need and on the D3, the fuse box was in the passenger side cubby box. Not sure if the D4 has its bits in the same place. I guess I'll find out when I get my new car!

The standard cig plug in the rear area goes on and off with the ignition.

Found a wire and then tried to get it into terminal 2 in the socket. I found the back of the 7 pin socket was filled with silicone so had to cut the wires ,lengthen the and fit a new 7 pin socket.
Thanks all for help.

That was generally known as "waterproofing", but glad you got it sorted :)

Thanks all, I found tucked under the rear bumper a white female socket with 6 receptacles and the middle one at the bottom of it had a plug that was active when the engine is running and deactivated when the engine is stopped. I want it to allow me to operate a DC-DC charger as I discussed with Tim (Drivesafe).
I got caught though,, wiring the new plug in, as I found the black wire out of thecar was for the tail lights not a brown one as our standards.
