What I usually do is find the LR part number and then search ebay with that info, instead of a generic term like "Discovery 2 CV boot" ... which most likely gives you a list of every CV boot made for every other manufacturer EXCEPT LR!
Here's a generic Ebay cheapie (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264858919610?hash=item3daad262ba:g:S5AAAOSwZZ1gZCb x&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4O8iB5c7308CqbDpvuEKnLMcT3WwS QAIGov%2BGcRqSIZMMHaJnvZGjVk4QbxjZy5qxC%2FAHCuTptD WB%2FpY4oLwlDBocsRW4rjaWCc6sDfv%2Frx8FW%2B7nljYIG7 lQNfISN6ZlKkujKEvpKoXTS4wMDwfeyQMZWYwj4Pzl1A7EkwPP gX1hb0BRgaLPiyR8Zf88dDGTvXLDndOgjuI3zZZ1x9uYkYBeg9 ZjzjhTYm6JVkt25IOIPhe9RGpiFkzHpXIJCIzkU6WP51wp5NT% 2FtHLzJTwOlwQmaQ5LHtOT5iBkbjnfBFy%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6Kf jLWIYg) if you want to go that way.
...
and there are these guys too.
CV Boot kit. (https://www.britishautoparts.com.au/inc/sdetail/5200/5218)
At $25 for the aftermarket(I reckon most likely britpart or something) .. or $40 for the GKN type.
I can recommend them for service, I've used them twice on parts I couldn't get immediately from my usual supplier(on holidays) .. and their service was 'immediate' ... as in next day.
But I think this is because you order before 10AM, the order goes through same day and delivery next day type system.

pretty sure you have to pull the ball joints out to do the boot.easier to replace the complete ball joint.

The ball joints don't need removal to replace the boots, Lewy.
I've used the Repco one's in the past, not perfect but do the job

I have a suspicion that Lewy was referring to the CV joint as the "ball joint" in this instance.
If so, then yeah, the shaft needs to be removed. But this isn't an issue. No other work needs to be done to the CV joint tho.
You would regrease the CV once the boot is removed tho, as you're already exposed it and not to grease it would be a shame(in a sense).
But no, the ball joints(that is axle/steering) don't need to be removed.
Never done one, but have removed axles to do inner seals balljoints and hubs, but I think you don't even need to separate axle from hub, as the boot retainer is exposed from the hub body.
So all you do is to remove entire hub and axle out of axle housing, replace inner seal(you'd be mad not too!) and slide boot over axle onto CV.
discorevy can confirm this process.

Yes was asking about the upper and lower ball joints. I looked at the repco ones but they looked pretty average for fit.......any other options cheers

no was talking about the ball joints,do the repco ones have a split or do you still have to undo the nuts and seperate the hubs.
