Hi All,

Can someone please advise whether firewalls from Series 1 109, 107, 88, and 84 (petrol) are the same? If they are different, can you please briefly indicate what those differences might be.

Thanks

Garry

There would seem to be differences in the bulkheads but looks like they used the same picture in the link below. If you click on each one you get a breakdown of the features.

Series 1 86 and 88 inch 107 and 109 inch bulkheads 1954 to 1958 (https://www.pegasusbulkheads.com/collections/series-1-86-and-88-inch-107-and-109-inch-bulkheads-1954-to-1958)

I believe that there are differences, particularly to the holes in some places and some brackets etc, but they are all interchangeable between 86,88,107 and 109. 80" (1948-53) is not interchangeable.

Thanks for all that information - I will pass it on.

JD is correct , there are minor differences, but they all had the same part number and were fully interchageable. Recently I had a '57 88" bukhead next to a '55 86/107 unit. The main differences are the shape of the upper corner reinforcing gussetts that brace the front bulkhead to chassis rail mounting arms to the firewall. They are beefier and more curved on the later unit. Also the fresh air vent mounting and rubber seal attachment is simplified on the later item using a lot less screws and fiddly bits. So if you needed a new bulkhead for your crash damaged '54 86/107 when it was a few years old, you got the new part with the same old part number. There also may have been a slight change to the shape of the windscreen folding brackets "ears", but I couldn't pick it. Everything else mounted on the bulkhead is the same as far as I could tell apart from the new Lucas silver aluminium bodied ignition coil that replaced the black painted Lucas B12 unit in 1956. 5380
