Friends, I have a newly-acquired D4, 2.7 TDI, coming up to 160k km. Searching for the correct spec engine oil I arrived at Fuchs (Oz company) Titan GT1 C1 5W30. Surprised at the cost though - $113.50 per 5 litres. And of course 5 litres isn't quite enough so I had to buy 2.
Similarly, correct spec power steering fluid, Penrite PAS fluid Semi Synthetic, set me back $50.80 for 1 litre. Are these prices in accord with general experience?
TIA, Rob S

at those klms i would be using 5w-40. i use penrite so dont know if Fuchs have one...

the oil specs for AU products vary from the SA specs although the climate seems very similar. au spec is 5w-30 and SA spec is 5w-40 i am reliably informed...

timing belts been done ?

Yes use 5w40 as inc said and check if the belts have been done,I would also change the oil pump even though it's not a problem in the D4 but the latest version will improve oil pressure.

I'm not sure if the oil specs are the same for the 2.7 D3 and D4.
MR Automotive used Valvoline Synpower FE 5W30 when I had my vehicle serviced there.
I buy 20l drums when they are on special. Supercheap have it on special for $232.99 for 20 litres at the moment.

Penrite HP5 5w40 comes in a 6L bottle for around $100 or less, you need 5.7L so a 6 or 7ltr bottle is ideal.

Look for a special at supercheap and buy a couple. I can normally snag it for around $60-70. Which reminds me, oil change this weekend. Currently doing 10,000km a quarter 🫨

I buy at Repco once a year at the Easter 30% sale. Generally 20L for ~$190 HPR5.
