Hi, I'm new to the forum. I recently acquired a 1964 Series 2a. I've been repairing it and now want to put in door rubbers and install the roof, door windows, and rear / side panels. Could anyone tell me where to get the appropriate rubbers and what they are called?

Here are a couple from a local supplier:

Defender Rear Quarter Window Seal (5mm Glass) - 306287 (https://klr.com.au/land-rover/defender/110-130/spares-and-parts/body-and-chassis/mirrors-windscreen-and-windows/defender-rear-quarter-window-seal-5mm-glass/)

Defender Dash Vent Sealing Rubber - JAE000030 (https://klr.com.au/land-rover/defender/110-130/spares-and-parts/body-and-chassis/body-exterior-and-canopies/defender-dash-vent-sealing-rubber/)

They say this one suits a S3 not S2

SEAL, DOOR TOP - RRC7575 (https://klr.com.au/land-rover/perentie-and-110/perentie-4x4/spares-and-parts/body-and-chassis/doors-bonnet-and-tailgate/seal-door-top/)

I know they have a lot of parts still waiting to be put up on their website.

You can get some seals from UK suppliers but the main door seals can vary from absolute rubbish to acceptable.
I sourced some locally which was very close to original, only problem was I had to buy a full roll (50mtr). I then sourced galvanised steel pallet strapping and I've been making my own seals and fitting as per original with original type rivets (not blind rivets)
Series Land Rover door seal (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-land-rovers/288087-series-land-rover-door-seal.html)

You can get the seals with an internal steel (?) strip and already bent to shape but they are expensive (see below)

Rubber Seal - door top to bottom - 330163 - Paddock Spares (https://www.paddockspares.com/330163-rubber-seal-door-top-to-bottom.html)
Series Front Door Seal Kit - Right Hand Side - OEM - Paddock Spares (https://www.paddockspares.com/da1494g-series-front-door-seal-kit-right-hand-side-oem.html)

Delivery adds to the cost but it's much, much faster than Australia Post !

Rear/side windows - look for a company locally that supply rubber extrusions. There's usually a windscreen rubber with locking strip that matches the LR profile.
Side panels to tub, there is a fancy profile but a rectangular EPDM foam seal does the trick. I'd have to measure the size.
Side panels to roof. Seal - roof to hardtop RH - 334610 - Paddock Spares (https://www.paddockspares.com/334610-seal-roof-to-hardtop-rh.html)

Best of luck,

Colin

I purchased all the original door rubbers / seals from LR Supplier, only to find that if fitted the doors would not close [bighmmm]

No amount of adjustment would make them work so they were returned. I ended up using some door seal from Clark Rubber, not original but it works and the doors shut nicely

What about the Old Auto Rubber store at Penrith, NSW? Have a look at their on-line catalogue. Their counter jumper, Mark, is very helpful.

Mark told me that Rare Spares also carry some rubber that he can’t get.

Also try UES in Sydney somewhere.

G'day All,

I used this window rubber from Rubber Online 39-8517R Windscreen Rubber per mtr (https://rubberonline.com.au/products/windscreen-rubber-5mmg-x-1-2mmm-x-6mm-gap-inc-key-per-mtr) I used approx. 9 metre so ordered 10 metres to be sure on SWB 2a 66.

Also you need a tool to insert the locking key. I used a 'Gunson' windscreen installation tool set. Use plenty of liquid soap and water!.

Good luck!
Chris
