Hi,
does anyone have any special tips for repairing my indicator switch or is there already a thread about it anywhere? It looks complicated with lots of wires attached. I don’t know where to begin.
thanks

Buy a new one.

There are budget models

Defender/110 Indicator/Horn/Dip Switch - STC439C (https://klr.com.au/land-rover/defender/110-130/spares-and-parts/electrical/switches/defender-110-indicator-horn-dip-switch/)

and more expensive ones (Lucas).

Indicator/Headlight Combination Switch - STC439 (https://klr.com.au/land-rover/defender/110-130/spares-and-parts/electrical/switches/indicator-headlight-combination-switch/)

thanks. I’ll do that. I was also hoping for some help with how to change it over.

Isn't it just plug and play? I can ask when I go to KLR tomorrow.

Tell Brad you’re asking for eila :)
I’ll get the switch from them too.

Another question - how do I know the problem is in the switch and not somewhere else in the system? The lights work just not the indicator.

thanks 🙏🏻
(also I haven’t worked out how to reply without the quote)

I asked one of the mechanics - the switch is just plug and play but the plug is tight and can be hard to push home.

However, on my way home I realised that to fit the switch, I’m pretty sure the steering wheel has to come off to slide the switch down over the steering column.

Here’s a video on removing the wheel:

Re your question, I don’t know the Defender/Perentie well enough. I’m going back to KLR tomorrow, I’ll try to have a play with the light switches.

I checked with one of KLR's mechanics. The steering wheel has to come off to replace the switch.
