Help. I have a little problem.

Spur of the moment I thought I would check the serpentine belt. Pulled the air pipe and fan shroud off but decided the take the fan off as well. The nose was right up against the garage so I decided to move it back a couple of feet. The split second after I turned the key I remembered the rag I put in the open air pipe. So it got sucked in. That’s what happens when you don’t plan.

I have a cheap endoscope. I found the rag once but couldn’t find it again. Used various pieces of wire with hooks on the end for no result. I tried disconnecting the intercooler hose and blowing up it with a leaf blower but there didn’t seem to be any air coming out the other end which I found strange.

I have ordered an articulated endoscope. It looks like a PITA to disconnect the turbo hose through the passenger’s wheel arch.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can you get a vacuum cleaner hose in there? i feel your pain , i dropped a small stubby ratchet into the the IC hose and it took me hours to fish out with nylon tube and a hook on the end.

Access through wheel arch not too bad just fiddly. Remove heat shields and dive in. Suspect it will be hard against the turbo.

Straightened coat hanger with a hook at the end might be the correct tool.

Did you remove the wheel arch and lining to undo the mounting bracket for the metal pipe the short hose was connected to or was just undoing the two hose clamps enough to wiggle the pipe off?

I suspect it is needed to remove the liner which is not hard. More room the better. Those pipes with short hoses are after the turbo heading back to the IC.

Now that you sorted it, never use a rag again to block the air intake.

Make up a plug using a pool noodle instead:
