I am over this piece of crap engineering. While away recently I had to use my spare. Lowered down but winding half way up it just started cklicking. Lowered again and same result. I took the tyre off and it wound up, no issue at all. Ended up with spare in the back. I have since removed the offending unit and on the bench it winds up and down no problem. Maybe the tyre weight is too much. But I am over this. My question is can you repair these winders. Is there an alternative I could use (other than a rear wheel carrier which I dont want). I thought I read something on this web site but I cannot find it TIA,

Same thing happened to mine recently. Ordered a new winder from AliExpress or was it Temu (?) and replaced it. Was easy and around $50. I hear your pain though. I was annoyed too when it happened.

The one on the LC works very well, the one on the D4 was an absolute piece of garbage, like the jack.
I wonder if it could be retrofitted to a D3/4?
