View Full Version : Front bullbar indicator stuck on

So, my latest anomaly to investigate is the front right side indicator on my ARB bulbar which seems to be stuck on.
When I arm/disarm the alarm, all other indicators flash correctly, but this one just stays on.
Before I start investigating the wiring, just checking there's not some setting that keeps this light on? I know on some cars the right side parkers stay on to avoid accidents.
I did have a flat battery two weeks ago which I had replaced and used the IID tool to perform the battery replacement procedure. But didn't touch any other settings.
The battery was 6.5yrs old, so thought it had a good run. But now wondering if this might have hastened its replacement or whether this has happened since replacement. I only noticed this issue last night and after starting stopping, turning lights on/off and arming/disarming a few times, it finally went off. But has recurred today.
Anyone got any ideas?

It'll be a wiring issue. But where the 12v supply is coming from is a bit of a concern. But first I'd check that the light is wired correctly to park light circuit.

How very odd. I haven’t touched any lighting circuits.
I removed 6 seized bolts 😔 on the bull bar bash plate and removed the light. There are 2 globes in it and it’s definitely getting 12v to the main one.
I have to head out for a busy day so have just removed the globes and reassembled for now.
I had the dreaded low battery light this morning.
Thanks for the reply.

It is odd. I'm not familiar with the ARB wiring, but they may have supplied a relay. If so, check that. But there's really no need for one, so I'd just check the connection to the parking circuit for that side. I'm wondering if the wire to the bullbar hasn't chafed against a permanent 12v wire but I just don't remember a permanent 12v source in that vicinity. When I get a chance I'll check the workshop wiring manual.

There is a relay for each side that comes in the arb fitting kit so I'd trace the wiring to see if the relays were fitted and then replace the one on that side.

Nice one. Thanks guys.
However, the plot thickens. After reassembling and driving around a bit to charge the battery, I got a sound I’ve never heard before when I put it in reverse.. the rear parking sensor made a beeping sound I’ve never heard before and the parking sensors button light flashed and then disabled.
i noticed there’s a sensor right next to the light. I think some chafing may be the cause.
Will dismantle and take a proper look tomorrow.

Have you got a steel rear bar? They will interfere with reversing sensors.

One step forward! It was indeed a faulty relay. Nice one loanrangie!
I discovered some very dodgy wiring along the way with twisted, soldered joins wrapped in electrical tape! Not sure who did it. There seems to be a lot of 2010 models around with colour coded non winch bars, so I assume they did some package with arb at the time.
Anyway, will order new wire and replace with conduit.
The parking sensors are still not working. One long beep and then disables.
That will be a challenge for another day :)

When mine died, the GAP told me exactly which one was at fault.

No package deal, just people went with the cheap non-winch bar quite often.
Remove the relays and associated wiring and get some ARB LED lights for the indicators / Parkers - solves the issue and much cleaner look and wiring.

Sigh.. I just read the faults and there are literally hundreds - 547 lines to be exact. It looks like every single error that could be reported, has been.
I tried clearing and they all came back. But they can't be real errors. There are no other issues with the car. No warning lights and everything is working except the parking sensors.
I won't paste the whole lot here but this is a snippet from the tail:

Nope. Would love to get one - but GVM..

I just can't comprehend ARB even making a non winch bar - anyway..
Good tip - will try to find some led replacements.

Thanks to the GAP team for helping figure out why I was seeing all those erroneous errors!
For anyone else in the boat, check Menu > Faults > Advanced and ensure only Confirmed & Pending are selected.
For some reason mine had Test Not Completed selected.
So now I can see this error:
U0159-00 (2C) Lost communication with parking assist control module
Found this great post:

Which led me to thinking... I did just replace the roof tail light recently. Would be super coincidental that the PAM decided to fail while I was fault finding the indicator issue, but crazier things have happened.
I checked the 30a PAM fuse in engine bay and it's good.
So, will check the module on the weekend.. and hopefully not find water.
