Driving to Brissie today
Awesome spectacle of Billows of smoke pouring from the back of the Disco 380,000 klms .
Pulled over called for help RACQ to home
Car seems to run OK - cleared some fault codes suggesting rich in some pot and lean in others.. no other sensors saying anything - but global warming contributions are obvious.
anyone care to suggest most likely diagnosis.

Seems terminal to me - Car is in great nick other than that and always well maintained - but not worth doing a new donkey installation

Cheers

I would run a strong mix of fuel doctor though it and see what it does, great stuff for cleaning out the fuel system

D3 V8, petrol, i assume? Blue Smoke = oil, so my bet would be rings or valve guide seals, or dome way that oil is getting into the combustion areas.

Blue smoke on the diesels usually means the oil drain from the turbo is blocked, forcing oil into the exhaust.

Yes D3 V8 and oil the most likely culprit.

Was going to scrap the car but its a great car and the rest is well maintained so I am looking to get a second hand motor and getting someone to drop it in ..

then use it for camping - sleep inside and beachwork.

Replacement L405 V8 Diesel on the way.

Cheers

Replacement L405 V8 Diesel on the way.

Interested to hear how this goes. I watched a youtube vid of some lads putting a diesel engine into a petrol chassis Land Cruiser, which ended up being way more complicated than they expected. Wonder if the same issues come up in the disco...
