Im 99% sure my alternator failed last week and have bought a Denso DAN1105 replacement. I did my YouTube research on steps to remove/replace and it looked easy enough (for a Disco anyway). But my disco seems to have a pipe that runs right under the alternator which is attached to a bracket which makes the unit very hard to physically remove.
I removed the side panel under wheel arch, got the belt off, all 3 bolts out and could wiggle it around. But where the videos I watched showed, just lifting and tilting the unit forward and down to get to the main battery feed wire and control wire plug, I couldn't get mine to move more than a few mms.
I also notice the battery wire routes under the alternator, seemingly right up against the bracket.
Does this look normal to you?
Here's a screenshot from this video I watched:

vs a photo from mine (different angle I know) - but the pipe is much closer:

Any advice on how to get this out?
