View Full Version : Turbo failure at 125,000kms - L319 Disco 4 2015

So I drove 12 hours from Sydney to S/E QLD. 200 kms from my destination and I get a 'Restricted Performance' error on the dash. Disco goes into limp mode. After all the tests the fault has been narrowed down to a faulty sensor in the Turbo (apparently). My car has 125K kms on it. Has anyone had experience with a turbo issue with low kms?

What are the fault codes?

What are the fault codes?

Hey Graeme, the codes are:
P2263-22 Turbocharger/supercharger boost system performance, and
P006A-00 MAP-Mass or volume air flow correlation.

He said "We do believe one of the electronic solenoids in the turbo has failed."

They have given me the option of a re-manufactured Turbo at $6613.06..."Air flow correlation" should be a leak somewhere, if it's a 2015 D4 it's likely a 3 litre, if it's a 3 litre it's likely that one of the inlet manifolds have split.

Others have a lot more experience than me with this issue, so I'll defer to them, but that would be my initial thought.

I doubt it’s the turbo if you have a P006A. Have a smoke test done to identify where your leak is. Common are manifolds, throttle body split or less common intercooler on the 3L.

100% its a 3L, they dropped the 2.7 around MY12.

The secondary turbo has an attached valve so "one of the solenoids" raises my suspicion of an incorrect diagnosis.

If you are in SE Qld,there are quite a few LR Indies that are excellent with repairs on LR products.Although most are extremely busy.
Depending in what area you are in.

My 2014 D4 showed the same warning - it turned out to be the intercooler, it'd simply blown out its sides.

Exactly. With a P006a it requires a complete smoke test as that error means a discrepancy between air ingested and boost expected, meaning leak.

Thanks for all the tips men. Wippels in Toowomba are working on it now. They ran several smoke tests and apparently found nothing. They looked at inlet manifolds and cleared them as a problem. They're now replacing the turbo with a re-manufactured unit.

Good they checked the obvious first. Good luck with it. Hopefully smooth sailing from here on
