Apart from the exhaust, that looked like it was all factory parts too.

Great conversion!

Great conversion! It's a bolt in conversion which is the best part.

Seems like you need a newish D4 to get the canbus to talk and an even newer one if you want the eight speed box, still a great conversion though.

Always thought this would be an awesome conversion. D4 would be the perfect platform. Engine was wasted in the RR Sport imo. TDv8 D4 would be a keeper.

I haven’t contacted them to discuss it but have looked at the web site and according to that it has been done and they advise it as an option
bit scared to get pricing…

I would definitely be interested for 'round two' if it ever came up. One snapped crank is enough per lifetime I think. Looking at the all the other options for a big 4wd leave me cold..........

There was a passing comment of using a later model engine for the later D4s - with an 8sp gearbox... Exciting

Yeah they also mentioned the 4.4 TDV8.

I'm not fussy, 3.6TDV8 with the 6 speed or 4.4TDV8 with the 8 speed. Either would be nice, though mine being a 2011/12 SDV6 with the 6 speed lends itself more to the 3.6TDV8 and 6 speed? Probably so in terms of matching up Canbus electrical systems moreso than anything else. Happy to be corrected though.

If the conversion is as seamless as the video implies, it's a 'no brainer' for me.

I'd be interested to know what the downsides are - does the dashboard work correctly for example, or other item on the engine not accessible.

If it is as promised, I could imagine a workshop that flies this crew out to Aus could book them out for a few weeks converting in bulk!

Wonder how the state vehicle registration people would deal with this

Everything works as it should which is why you need to use a similar era donor, the disco will have an identity crisis though as it will think its an RRS.
And being smaller in displacement than the largest engine offered in either the D3 or D4 there are no mods required .
