good work and simple,
the only thing i can think of is lateral movement when flexing the suspension while they are still connected, i'm guessing there would have to be a bit so maybe that nail might not last to long, a local engineering shop would weld the washers on for nicks, might be a good idea to stick your head under the rear after every other drive to mae sure everything is in place
legal, well i'm sure somebody will comment
well after reading this post i would do the mod if i owned a disco

Very nifty Wayne, I like simple Ideas.:arms:
I would agree thought that the nail might be a little weak, and I would certainly look at welding the back washer in place, and a nice chunky one.

Thanks Kevin /Ladas - yes good idea I will get it welded - the nail is only temporary to test the theory. I will put the original bolts back in till then.

great job, will be adding that to the "to do" list
am very curious about legalities.
only illegal when you get caught

or have a prang - and insurance knocks you back
or hit someone and they charge you as your vehicle was faulty.....
but im sure that a judge will see it your way....
sorry just being the devils advocate

Had the same thought over the weekend of the Toolangi Trip. ended up just removing altogether. Not too bad, just slow down a little in corners.

a few years ago i spoke to an engineer about sway bars as i removed them from my rangie. It is illegal in Victoria to remove sway bars if it came with them. I know with my rangie when i get it engineered for the ute conversion he is going to cert it without sway bars. anyway getting back to the original question about quick disconnects well he seemed to think they were highly illegal due to the fact they could come loose and the driver may loose control and or roll the thing.

Nice writeup and photos of a good idea Waynep. :)
I'd be doing that for sure if I thought I needed the rear swaybar but I removed mine some time ago and have never noticed it's gone.

Rear sway bar is so thin it's a joke. You will notice if you remove the front
