for some reason I have a list a mile long,,
how do we go about deleteing them,,
Microsoft tell you everything BUT that.
have been into C;Windows\Web\Wallpaper
but it only lists genuine MS ones.
a lot of them are jpgs with only numbers as descriptions,,,

You can safely delete all files from C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper (these are just default background pictures for windows desktop)
Also you can delete all the BMP files from c:\windows these are destop tile images.
The other images are located in the "my pictures" folder normaly located under
C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\My Documents\My Pictures

Don't you just replace *.jpg in the search with the number that you have up in the desktop background list? xxxxx.jpg.
That should point you to one of the backgrounds, but most likely you've got them all saved in the same folder.
Cheers

1. Right click on the Desktop
2. Select Properties
3. Select the Desktop tag
4. Highlight one of the files listed in the box under Background: (I assume this is where you are seeing the list as long as your arm)
5. With one of the evil ones highlighted select the Browse button.
The system with then open the folders at exactly where that file is saved.
Hope that makes sense

Ok so when you go to Browse as I said earlier you said that it points you to where the pics are actually stored and you don't want to delete them.
So... are they all in a folder say called "Pedro's anatomically inaccurate pics"?
If they are all in the same folder (or even just a few to test) and you don't want to delete them, use explorer and change the name of your folder to say "Pedro's banned anatomically inaccurate pics"
Go back into the desktop setting as see if they are still displayed.
It would appear that the most common problem with desktop images is the exact opposite of what you are reporting. In my case as most others I have now checked...each time they assign a new pic it actually replaces the last pic they used in the list.

If its a problem with them being displayed rather than them being on your pc then why not just go to control panel and change your desktop image.

Are you sure that they aren't anatomically correct? They may not be what Mrs Pedro likes but they may be perfectly ;) correct. :D
How can we access your hard drive? :D

I was about to ask if you used Webshots as it sounded like that was causing the issues...I uninstalled it for stability reasons, but I thought it had an option for which folders to trawl for desktop images - mine was never setup to use \My Pictures, for example. As long as you're not storing everythgin in one folder tree, I'm pretty sure it's configurable.

I use "nuonsoft wallpaper cycler" http://www.nuonsoft.com/wallpapercycler/ to handle my 5000 or so anatomically pleasing backgrounds interspersed with a few hundred landrover pics.
