There has been a response from the government about the petition to stop the closure of Hook point vehicle access.

Looks like the bottom section of Fraser will soon be closed:(

I haven't seen a map, but it reads as if the access road will operate and no vehicles on the beach. Provided they upgrade (or even grade) the bypass road, it shouldn't make that much difference to 99% of people.

Moreton, never been and I've been living in Brissie 12 years :oops2: ben too slack and the barge cost puts me off a bit :mad:

But if the club did a trip there, I would be keen to go for the first time.

Don't know about the closures, but we go there twice a year.
Simply awesome, plenty of driving, great spots, heaps to see, great for wee ones, uncrowded and nil yobbo's;)

How much dose it cost you to go there.

After talking to Camo’s better half, at the last meeting, I did some checking and the family is going out there but it works out to about $800 for the trip and good accommodation for just two nights.

Cheers.

That's the main reason I haven't ventured over there. I can rough it to save costs (tent it) but there's not much change out of $500 for a weekend and that's for me only after I worked it out (plus I drive a petrol skulling V8 Rangie as well )

But as mentioned, it keeps the yobbos off the island :thumbsup:

Cool, we've got a jumping off point!!! (Except they leave from Scarborough or the Port o Brissy)

If work out costs to Fraser from Brissy or GC (i.e. barge, fuel and not even including time) - it's roughly the same.

Haven't been to Straddie for 10 years (97 was the last time in my old 76 Rangie) so plenty has probably changed since then :(
