HI All,
can some one advise the part number and ho much of the CAT battery that fits into a series 2 Discovery?

I think mine is on the way out. The indicator is still blue after driving for a while but after 2 weeks with these cold temps unused went to start and she was quite flat. Had to jump start off my second battery.

Cheers

My brother in law had to replace a battery while we were over in Tassie. We asked the dealer in Launceston and they referred us to a battery place in the industrial area. He picked up a Full River battery (same size as the factory batter) with good CA for around $200 I think. Fitted it in about 10 minutes.

Thanks DM_TD5,
does that fit straight in the standard position without changing anything?

Yep, you may need to trim a bit of lead of the poles - the battery comes with studs and the lead poles just screw over them (about another $2).

Hi DM_TD5,
is there any reason I Should not go for the next size up battery and get the 1000 CCA version?

I don't know much about them but thought for the same size frame might give me a bit more juice?

Thanks Heaps for the PDF its great.

Hi Piddler
This is the biggest PYSICAL SIZE that you will get in with no mods

Unsure without looking at the CAT website if the bigger CCA batteries are bigger in size.
This one is taller wider and deeper than the standard size, mine is only a 750CCA,but it was freemdid 3 years in a grader and now 2 years in my Disco.

The one I have is the 825CCA which is bigger than yours. The 1000's the same size so no problems there. I couldn't get one without waiting so I took the 825 at the time.

Hi,

Just rang the CAT dealer $133 for the 1000 CCA and $3.50 for the terminals, 1000 CCA should spin her over.

Coupled with my auxillary battery when winching we should have some grunt there as well.

Slight high jack sorry.

So what crank does the TD5 battery need to be rated at?

Td5 manual states a 110 Amp/hr battery but I think thats to cover from base model to the full HSE spec. I've certainly no trouble with the 100Ah 825CCA CAT in my base model D2a.

How many amp hrs is the 1000CCA? Mine has had 2 dodgy start mornings this winter.
When mine is up for replacement I may be able to wangle a deal with Westrac if a few of you WA boys want one.
Wont do anything about it till I need one,but Im hoping that the Shire gets a better deal than the public.Should be able to use a shire order no and pay cash on their a/c.
Will yell out when Im looking at getting one.

Hi Andy,
looked on the PDF the 1000 CCA is 90 amp hr @20 hours opposed to the others 850 CCA which is 100.

Can any one advise what this figure does?

Hi Andy

Just starting to get sluggish turnover on my D2 so charged it up and checked the reading and 4 hours later the level had dropped from 13 to 10, so I guess I will be in the market for a new battery, do still reckon CAT is the way to go?

Read your earlier post about the headlight upgrade you fitted from Drivesafe and wondered how difficult it was to fit and was it worth doing it?

best regards

I did the upgrade about 4 months ago and have found it to be well worth the effort. To make life easier, I removed the grill and headlights, took my time, install took about 3hrs but I'm a slower worker on my Disco ;).

Prior to the wiring upgrade I also installed a pair of Philips ClearVision Globes. They are a slightly whiter light but not blue or insanely bright which annoys other motorists. Around $50 (I think) at Autobarn and other outlets.

Both well worth it for a cheap upgrade/mod. Surely there is HID, but $$$.
