G'Day everyone,
I've finally made it to the darkside and got rid of my Toyota and bought a TDV6. The question I have is, does anyone have one of these ladders fitted and are they strong enough to mount a shovel and axe to? Also I would like to mount my GME AE4705 antennae to it too.
The Land Rover item is expensive but if its well built it maybe worth it. Ive seen an aftermarket on EBay for half the price of the factory one, but experience tells me you only get what you pay for.

Muppo,

Welcome. BUT it's not the darkside. You just left it :)

I'm not sure of any Oz boys on here with rear ladders. The tailgate is made of aluminium (to save weight) so I wouldn't go mounting a shovel and axe to the ladder IMHO. Ithink you would be better to invest the money in a roof rack (there are many variations available now for the D3) and get a shovel holder for it.

I know of others who made a mounting bracket to fit their UHF aerial from the back pillar. Before I fitted the ARB bullbar I had a mounting bracket made up that protruded from the front grill and mounted exactly the same aerial as yours.

Thanks PCH, you wouldn't happen to have an old photo of it?

I still have the bracket. You can have it (for a small fee) if you want it. PM me.

Here are 2 pics

Picture of my rear ladder, it is made by frontrunner and is cheaper than the landrover one. I'd be concerned about the life of the tailgate struts if you bolted too much weight to it. Apart from that it would be OK. Secures via 2 rivnuts at the top and the bolts that hold the lock/numberplate light at the bottom.

Agree with the advice not to mount anything to the tailgate, it's not strong enough and you then can't use the ladder. Either use a roofrack, or get a spare wheel carrier and and a shovel holder to go with it. However, it would be a great place for a UHF antenna, being much higher than the bonnet and not blanked by the bodywork. The problem being that as soon as you open the rear door then the antenna will be radiating in completely the wrong direction, especially anything other than a short unity gain...so maybe you're best off with a roofrack mounted antenna or front bumper.

I'd worry about collecting the antenna on overhead objects with it mounted on the rear door.

Me being me I'd visually check that the roof would clear and then give it some loud pedal then remember about the antenna

I'm thinking that the bracket that PCH looks like a goer...

Anyone know where to get them from? or is something I should just fabricate up myself.

Hello,

Any idea where I can purchase the antenna bracket for the D3?
It seems like a great solution without needing to drill in the roof.

Thanks a lot

PCH's bracket looks good but there is also a bonnet mount that works well. Can be mounted either side and there is a heavier duty one which is capable of carrying sand flags etc.

Link to info is http://www.aulro.com/afvb/communications-car-audio-electronics/108325-uhf-antenna-location-2.html

If you mount the bracket drivers side, I mounted mine passenger side, it will clear any RAI/snorkel etc when bonnet raised.

Cheers

They're only good as a ladder when fixed, one on top of the other, to the bumper bar but it :wasntme:

Hi guys, I know I am a bit late here on this thread, any chance anyone has a bracket like PCH's or know where I can get one easily?
