Does anyone know which colour wire on the brake switch to cut into for the brake pedal sensing. Maybe a Photo?

Muppo,
Its the Green with Purple tracer. Don't cut it just splice into it.
You'll find the man where this info came from on here with pics:

G'Day Chris,
Thanks but I posted the same thread on Disco3.co.uk and was told that connecting to the brake switch wires is a no go. I have to wire it to the LHR compartment where the wiring is for the trailer loom is and use a diode to stop back feed.

Muppo, I had to rewire mine, I originally had it spliced into the cold side of the brake light switch but ran into some problems with my suspension and terrain control dropping out. The dealer convinced me that the pickup for my prodigy had to come from LHR cold side of the stop light and a diode to stop feedback.
Now I don't understand electricity and the way it works and it didn't stop my suspension problems which turned out to be a loose earth connection, however everything works fine and it is now wired in as per the dealers recommendations.

Thanks Muppo and Richard for confirming that wiring to the brake switch is not recommended.
I've done that and had some supension errors, terrain response errors and tranismission faults recently .
I've asked Sniegy to better explain which wires I'm meant to connect in the fuse block becasue it isn't very well explained in the Disco3.co.uk post

Chris

I had to call into my dealers service center today so I asked what was the go.
They do a few installations and the way they explained the install is like this and I hope it means more to you than it does to me as I have never had to do such an install.
They pickup power at one of the two plugs at the rear of the D3 and pickup the Stop Light wire in the seven pin plug that goes to the trailer or caravan.
There is no need for diodes and because it’s after the trailer wiring module, there is no effect on the D3’s electronics.
No sure if that’s what your after but thats how my dealer does it.
Cheers

I rewired last night as per my Dealer's instructions using the recommended LRA method. This uses the trailer fuse block in the LHR compartment for all connections with a 3amp diode between the brake light wire and brake controller's blue wire.
I'm sure you can wire these controllers up and take a brake light signal from different locations some with no risk and maybe some with higher risk.
I'm happy to have fitted as per my Dealer's instructions. Thanks Sneigy.

This is one MORE job that I have ahead of me (after removing it from my D1).:(
Can you please let me know which way round to fit the diode?
AND I'll have to see if can DIG UP the installation instructions.
Best Wishes,

I've got them here somewhere, I can PDF them on Monday if you like

Best Wishes,
Bushwanderer, I was instructed to fit the diode with the stripped end toward the brake controller. I think that makes sense as you wish to prevent any signal coming back from the brake controller into the D3's systems.

Hi Chris, have just found this & the statement u make here (which is probably my fault trying to describe it to u in the first place!!:() in Orange is incorrect!
The "diode" goes from the red wire coming from your brake controller to the tapped into connection to the Purple/green trace (from memory which is you brake light wire). Not to have any connection to your blue wire in any case, which is why u had problems earlier i would presume.
Sorry for not noticing, i have just returned from holidays in S.A.
I am hoping to fit one & show pics once i return to work.

Hi Pete,
I do apologise for my ramblings..:(
Basically the red wire from your brake controller goes to the purple/green wire for your brake light pickup signal (As LR have instructed in the L/H/R 1/4 panel.). In between the connection of these 2 wires is placed the diode.
I do hope this is clearer...cant wait for the photo's....;)

Pete,
Actually you instructed me correctly (I just checked the email we corresponded on) and I had wired it correctly - Brake controller RED wire to Diode to Purple/Green trace wire. What I typed in my post below was incorrect. Sorry to all for that.
Regards,
Chris
