up here on top the complete assembly is called an axle . the test rig is for 'alf shafts as the tans callem . Anyone looking for info on trannies as you call them should view their site

And in New Zealand we call them half shafts too, calling them an axle is so american! Like calling a diff housing a pumpkin or a diff head a third member, where did the other members go? :o

or Ring and Pinion for Crown Wheel and Pinion. I will call it nothing but a CWP !

axle/half shaft is pretty much interchangeable here., although the term half shaft is usually applied more to independent diff/axle assemblies with exposed shafts.

and fancy a Kiwi counselling us on language !
at least we can count to ten without mentioning procreation half way through ....:D

I prefer to class them as pillow biters or shirt lifters :D:D:D:D

The second link is interesting as it shows the 10 spline to be just that pooftenth stronger than the 24 spliner ;);)
