Hi all I searched but no luck:(

How much would you expect to pay for an 80,000km log book service for a 2001 diesel manual Freelander?

Not sure if it has the newer or older motor but it is intercooled if that helps.

Stealer is telling me cam belts etc need to be changed so prepare to donat e kidney, just want to double check

Thanks

Well it depends on the motor,

Some 2001 diesels were the TD4 and you could expect to pay $700
Some 2001 diesels were the L series motor and these have cam belts changed so you could expect to pay $1700

Guess which one I have:o

$1700 is a bit rich - yes you will need to replace the cam belt and the injector pump belt - and I also suggest the tensioner for the cam belt as well.

The injector pump belt is easy to do. The cambelt requires the engine to be moved sideways (to the passenger side) of the engine bay.

However, I did mine a couple of years back having never worked on a Freelander before - I found that it can be done with a couple of modified tools to get into the tight spots and I found that raising the engine up and down gave access - so I didn't have to move the engine sideways.

Parts are about $300 and for an expert there is about 10 hours labour so I would shop around for quotes as I would have thought about $1200 for the lot would be more reasonable.

Oh- don't be tempted to not have the belt replaced - it ain't worth the possible grief.
