View Full Version : Smash Repairer Needed For 2007 Defender

This afternoon I had a Honda CR-V hit my 2007 defender on the driver's side front wheel guard & bullbar. Luckly The only damage was the guard & a few stratches on the bullbar.
As I have my insurance with Allianz, I need to take it to a Smash Repairer of my choice, but I don't know any around Arncliff/St Peters (Inner Sth West Sydney) that handle land rovers.
So If anyone knows off any. Please let me know asap.
Regards,
Michael

Hi Michael
Give Graeme Cooper's a call. They should have some local knowledge.
Hope the damage isn't too bad....the Taipan is looking very smart...new lights and all.

Talk to Blair at A & J Corban Smash Repairs - Forest Road Hurstville 9580 5000. Arthur Corban was (maybe still is) a Range Rover Club member. Tell him that Diana sent you, they are also friends of Graeme Cooper and Arthur Garthon.
They do excellent work, lots of experience with aluminium bodies of Land Rover products and will only paint the panels when they are off the vehicle so there should be no evidence of the repair afterwards.

Michael,
Forgot to ask:
How did the CRV scrub up after the altercation ( and/or :wheelchair:)?

I think many insurance companies have rules that vehicles <2yo must be fitted with new panels if replacements are required. A new outer guard and door skin would be better than a S/H one from an older defender - or a bogged up existing one.

I'm VERY interested to hear how you get on with Allianz. I am insured with them and it would be good to know how they perform for you.

Honda was stuck in gear, radiator smash & leaking and unable to turn steering wheel. Therefore it had to be towed.

I think it is too badly damaged to ever be repaired successfully - you'd better get rid of it straight away.
If you dump it over near Arncliffe Park I'll dispose of it for you!

All I think about when I'm not here is working as much overtime as I can get, so I can buy more accessories and upgrading it.
I must be in love with it as I can't stop thinking about her.
My girlfriend get jealous and my mates don't understand.

It's a great looking Landie, a real shame about collecting that J** Cr** !
Do give Blair a call in the morning - you won't be unhappy with the result.
They did a complete respray of my RR classic when it was due for a colour change - 8 years later people still compliment me on the colour which is a reflection of Corban's work.

What do you mean? That will buff out. It's just added 5 years of character to that corner of the vehicle. :wasntme:

My enquiries a few years ago turned up that there were only two panelbeaters in Sydney who had real experience with aluminium LandRovers, namely Corbans as mentioned & Bindings at Brookvale.
I go to Bindings when necessary, although they're primarily Mercedes these days.
Now I think of it, there is another near Bankstown airport whose name escapes me. Scouse will know. He's also an LR specialist - replaced a roof for me under warranty.

Caldwells at Condell Park is the one. They have also been doing Land Rovers for years.
They do the repair work for LR Aust.

Cameron_Def,
Sorry for not waving, strange I usually wave to all the series & defenders I drive past. (Stop waving to discos & rangies as most don't wave back).
Next time I see a white defender I'll wave twice. :arms:
PS Which is yours as there are several white 110s in my area, they are usually parked in the following;
Alice St Enmore
Merton St / Stamore Rd Petersham
May St St Peters
Edinburgh Rd Enmore

I would have stepped out of the car, and said to the Honda driver with a massive grin "I win! :D"

Ask for the damaged bits back when you take it down there. I'll buy them off you if you can get them back.
As for pannel beaters, the best one i know of is Ken Schafers in Campbelltown, They won best smash repairer in Australia a year or so ago. I went for a walk through, and i was very very impressed. The also have a budget rent a car facility out front that take care of the courticy cars.

The Taipan is back on the road after 4 days in the panel shop (2 weeks ago) and since then had the following upgrades;
Land Rover Raised Air Intake and Bruce Davis Landy Customs Side Steps.
