Does anyone have a photo of the top of a diesel tank? I have a petrol tank I need to drill a hole for the return line and I need an idea on position

Doesn't really matter where - highest point on the tank is best - somewhere near pickup hole.

I have fitted return lines to 4 fuel tanks, never had a problem.

Usually just silver solder some copper tubing into the top of the tank, but had some custom tanks made, and got a 2nd pickup hole - about 2" away from the normal one.

Silver solder or soft solder, just wondering, flame go boom and all:)

Yeah - usually have soft soldered for that reason. But if it is a diesel tank and/or the tank is clean, I have silver soldered. If I remember rightly, that last one I did I cleaned, then filled 99% full with water, soldered, drained water and flushed with metho.

That was the disclaimer I was expecting to be used with the flame element:D that's why I thought you might of meant soft solder:)

I have converted a LR petrol tank into a deisel tank. I did this by putting a "T" piece into the breather line for the return. This works quite well, and there is no modification to the tank. But if you insist or fitting a "proper" return, here is a real diesel tank.
