This is under the drivers side guard to the right of the power steering close to the firewall.

You REALLY need to get a RAVE CD. It has pictures of every connector as well as the wiring diagrams. I'd look it up myself but need more info on where the brown wires trace to - plus I just can't be 6uggered :p.

OK, I felt guilty about blowing you off there so I had a look in RAVE myself. I can only find one connector that has both brown-green & brown-white wires into it and that is a resistor for the headlight dimmer-dip circuit.

You had the headlight wiring loom upgraded with a Traxide setup didn't you. Maybe that's now a left-over.

Im unable to find it on Rave. Upgraded loom still isnt installed. Everything works fine in the car (including the heater!)

It could be anything really, my money would be on one of two things depending on where it is exactly:
Heated windscreen (if the wires are quite thick)
or
electric windows If it's a defender without them.

Ejector seat?

Seriously, maybe a bigger photo of the general area and I'll go down and have a look at my car if you like....

Yep - that sounds possible. The heated windscreen doesn't show up in RAVE but we all know they were available for Td5s from 2002 onwards.
