Hey guys,

I've been told that my cruise control ECU has had it and needs to be replaced. Not the most expensive thing in the world but i'm wondering if i can do this myself by purchasing the part online and swapping the old for the new - does anyone know if it's just a case of plug it in and go?

found a cheap one here;
Discovery & Range Rover - Cruise Control ECU - AMR1173 - eBay, Range Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles. (end time 02-May-08 05:30:00 AEST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290203261658)

I know you can on the classics, not sure if it needs to be switched on by a laptop on the p38? have you tried opening the ecu and checking the soldered joints? just run a soldering iron over the joints and retry it, it worked for my soft dash classic. worth a try as its usually the joints going dry that gives more trouble than the components on the board.

Before you go fiddling with ECU's on your P38, it is a very common problem that the small vacuum hoses for the CC in the engine bay perish and need to be replaced.

I will assume you have checked all of these already, but if not you should.

I fixed up my cruise control for the princely sum of $4.50 using vacuum hose bought from SCA.

If it is definitely the ECU, I would check with TRS in SA, they usually can supply most parts second hand at reasonable prices.

Good luck

I have no light on my dash for my P38. Would a vacuum hose leak cause this problem or should i get a new ECU. Cant figur out why my cruise wont work, new owner by the way.

If i get e new ECU, where oin earth is it and is it easy to replace.
