Sounds like it is not that close to that area.

which area is it coming from. it could be the aux start relay (forgot what they call it in a LR) that drives the solenoid....
Theres a couple of other relays that need to be doing there thing for a start so it could be as simple as your starter solenoid is not getting power/singal and you can now hear the normal relays dropping in..

Sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine bayon the left side passanger side.

Check the battery charge, battery earths, earth straps to engine, and stop snivels before they hurt!
Good luck on the hunt for the problem. I think the starter relay is behind the rh kick panel, but a check on RAVE 1 will show where it really is!

Sorry for the delay on this but it turns out to be the starter motor. The bushes on the motor are wearing out I can start the landy again but at times it won't start so I am wondering how much a reco or new starter motor will set me back.

Also the earlier rangerover ones fit but have a wider body that makes them a bit harder to fit.Cheers Brett

Only thing to keep in mind buying second hand, these are a high torque motor and can be burned out easily, They do not handle been cranked for too long and are not able to be rebuilt, I have been caught out before buying one of these 2nd hand and it died soon after,
I am not totally throwing the 2nd hand idea out but check it out well

I don't ever buy second hand parts when it comes to the engine and drive line.
I don't consider Reco to be second hand
