The engine is only firing on 4 cyls in my DiscoII. Probable cause is a faulty injector but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that there is a problem with one of the wireing looms in the TD5 getting oil into it that causes missfiring problems.
Any pointers here would be most appreciated.

What year is your car?
do a search here under oil in injector or ecu loom - heaps of info
could be fuel pump related
in my 2002 model it was injector seal(s) - another search will help

Try here for oil in the harness.

The exact same thing happened to me last year. It wasn't oil in the external part of the injector harness but a fault in the bit under the rocker cover. Pray that it's the harness and not an injector!

Thanks for the replies, very helpful.
I checked the red plug that connects to the ECU and it is very oily so I guess that's what the problem is. It means a new harness, I don't know the cost. If it's an injector, my service guy has some second hand ones out of a fairly low km motor that I can get a lot cheaper than new.
The car goes to him in a few hours, and then I'll find out what the damage is

To change the wiring loom isn't a major problem. If you put in a new (or used) make sure it is the same type as the one removed as otherwise your ECU will need reprogramming to match the new injector.
